First day on the slopes

Although it is a little early to start the little man on skis, I decided to take him for a few runs in the sun anyways. He did as well as could be expected and afterward we sat in the sun and Kye had some cookies and milk while Mom and Dad had a beer.

First set of hockey skates

While getting my skates sharpened the other day, a used pair of kid's skates caught my eye. They were only $20 and I could not resist as I had been wanting to get Kye some skates for some time now. According to everyone I have asked, he can start learning to skate real soon. To introduce him to the skates I let him wear them around his room. He did a pretty good job at walking in them, which is not not a simple motor task. We also got him some pads, so all I need to do is find him a helmet and he is ready for the ice.

Self-preservation

Last weekend was beautiful, so we decided to take Kye on a hike. As this is our first child, and I had not spent too much time around kids before, I find myself asking questions about what they can do and what of their surroundings they are aware of. This hike had a steep rocky decent and I was curious whether Kye has any sense of self-preservation. Would he slow down when he saw this on the trail or would he proceed to walk right off? Well, I got an answer to my question. Note to self "watch the kid like a hawk". The video shows that he would walk right off, had I not been holding on to him. Then he throws a mini tantrum because I did not let him go his way.

Stella the "Neigh"

Continuing his desire to ride a horse or a "neigh" as he calls it, Kye decided to give Stella dog a ride.

I thought this was pretty funny and it reminded me of the headbands that Hendrix used to wear.

Donkey on a dowel rod

As you saw in the last video, the little man likes to say "neigh" for a horse sound. Now he has taken to trying to ride my guitar case like it is a horse. He straddles it and yells "neigh". I though maybe he would like a rocking horse, but we are downsizing for the move. As a space saving alternative, Mary and I came up with the idea of taking a donkey puppet that Grandma got him and placing it over a dowel rod. Here he is riding his "neigh" backwards around the house.
